Washington, DC - Attorney General Robert J. Spagnoletti announced today that as a result of a multi-state settlement agreement with Pfizer, Inc., Georgetown University will receive nearly $400,000 thousand in grant funds. General Spagnoletti, Attorneys General, and officials from all 50 states announced the selection of Georgetown University and 23 other grantees who will receive funds from the Attorney General Consumer and Prescriber Education Grant Program.
Georgetown University will be awarded $398,431 to develop a program to teach best practices in pharmaceutical prescribing to medical and pharmacy students, medical residents, and physicians in the greater Washington area. General Spagnoletti says the settlement money will be put to good use. "We are pleased to be able to fund Georgetown University with this grant money. It will ultimately lead to better and more efficient health care in the District, and across the country." Over $9 million will be distributed during the next two years to grant recipients, respected research, educational and professional institutions from across the nation. In total, the Attorney General Consumer and Prescriber Education Grant Program will award $20 million in grants.
