The Office of the Clean City (OCC) is pleased to join District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) in preparation for the 3rd Annual Beautification Day Project, scheduled for August 25, 2007 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at all DCPS schools. Beautification Day is a school-community partnership where school staff and community members work together on providing finishing touch-ups for schools in preparation for the arrival of students.
This project aims to involve District of Columbia community members in the preparation of our schools for the first day of school. As a part of the District’s effort to recruit volunteers, staff and the community, we want to make sure that every school has enough volunteers to accomplish significant work and with your help we can make this a success for everyone.
The OCC is a key component in the Mayor's initiative to clean up the District of Columbia. The Clean City Coordinator for the OCC works with the Office of Intergovernmental Relations, applicable city agencies, and the DC Council to implement process improvements in the form of better laws that strengthen the ability of the city to protect public space, as well as volunteer efforts that result in working closely with the Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANCs), civic associations, concerned citizens, and business groups to coordinate efforts and solicit involvement and support in the cleaning of the city
For information on how to volunteer and become a part of this project and future community clean ups, please call the OCC office at 202 724–8967.
