(Washington, DC) The Office of the Clean City (OCCC) met with representatives from Cleaner Greener Baltimore to discuss Best practices as it related to abandoned and blighted property. Baltimore, through its Cleaner Greener initiative has successfully turned vacant lots into gardens, as well as transformed many neighborhoods through the use of city farms.
The Office of the Clean City is looking to model Baltimore’s example, by transforming government owned abandoned and blighted properties, into gardens that would benefit the community. These properties are not only an eyesore, but they have the potential to be drugs havens and health a hazard.
Cleaner Greener Baltimore is a city initiative which calls on each of its residents to ownership of helping to make Baltimore clean and green. The Initiative seeks to engage, educate and recognize issues in the community.
