District Official Named to National Procurement Board

Washington, DC – The District of Columbia’s Chief Procurement Officer, David P. Gragan, was recently named to the Board of Directors of National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO).

“It’s a great honor, of course, to serve on this board,” said Gragan.  “Particularly because NASPO is a highly recognized and respected organization that works with agencies such as the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to strengthen procurement systems through education, research, and communication.”

NASPO, which was formally established on January 29, 1947, in Chicago Illinois, is a non-profit association dedicated to strengthening communications among the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Territories.  NASPO is an organization through which the member purchasing directors provide leadership in professional public purchasing, improve the quality of contracting and procurement, exchange information and cooperate to attain greater efficiency and economy.  The exchange of information on procurement best practices benefits citizens of every state and the District.  NASPO also develops cooperative contracts which allow member states to aggregate their purchasing power, thereby lowering prices paid for goods and services.

Gragan, who was appointed as Chief Procurement Officer by Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, will serve a two-year term on NASPO’s Board of Directors.
