The UCC Project Team held a Thanksgiving Holiday Drive to collect and distribute food baskets for some needy families in Ward 8, where the project is being constructed. The effort was tremendously successful thanks to the generous corporate contributions from the Jair Lynch/Tompkins Joint Venture, Jacobs Engineering group, TDC, Schnabel, DMJM, CCAI and personal contributions from employees of The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO). The original goal was to distribute 25 baskets but thanks to the generous contributions, the number was doubled and a total of 50 baskets were distributed. Each food basket contained a number of nonperishable food items, as well as a turkey, to make a full Thanksgiving meal. The baskets were distributed at St. Elizabeths Chapel on Tuesday November 23, 2004. The distribution of the baskets was coordinated with Ward 8 Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners. The ANC’s assisted in identifying needy families within Ward 8 and assisted with the distribution process.
