DC Fire Chief Dennis L. Rubin (right) presented Lt. Johnson (left) the Bronze Bar for Merit at the 2007 Annual FEMS Awards Banquet.Using mapping data from OCTO’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program, Lt. Erik Johnson of the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS) delivered exceptional analysis that helped FEMS improve response times for the District’s fire and ambulance service.

The District’s new Fire Chief, Dennis L. Rubin, presented Lt. Johnson the Bronze Bar for Merit at the 2007 Annual FEMS Awards Banquet.

Lt. Johnson’s work analyzed response times geographically with DC GIS and FEMS data. The analysis has enabled FEMS to identify the most effective locations for deploying paramedic engines and improve overall FEMS response times on critical medical calls.
