New OCTO-WDCEP Website Promotes DC to Retailers

District of Columbia retailers just got a holiday gift from the DC Government’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and the Washington Economic Development Partnership (WDCEP).

OCTO’s Geographic Information systems (GIS) group and WDCEP have built a new web-based retail search site, http://wdceprss.dc.gov/. The new site allows retailers to query more than 280 retail opportunities by size, neighborhood, timeframe and location. The information for each site includes space availability for lease, Metrorail and traffic counts, neighborhood demographics, images for the space and leasing contacts. With this new tool, retailers looking for the best potential locations to attract and serve their customers can find these spaces with just a few clicks of a mouse.

The new web tool integrates data coming from Google Maps & Streetview, the District's Master Address Repository and Basemap web services, the Vector Property Map Guide, and layers from the District Office of Zoning. The rich data and technology offerings provide potential retailers an opportunity to go beyond just retail site information and learn zoning around a site or even determine the size of an adjacent parcel using the map layers function.

OCTO created and hosts the tool. The WDCEP designed the website and provided the retail sites data.
