(Washington, DC) Derek K. Orr, MPA has been appointed Deputy Director for the Office of Disability Rights (ODR). Orr has been a senior level executive in the delivery of programs and services in the areas of developmental disabilities, mental health, substance abuse, spinal cord and traumatic brain, primary care and HIV/AIDS.
In 1997, Orr was appointed by the City of New York to serve on the Ryan White Planning Council. In 1999, he was recruited by “CARF – Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities” as a member of their national surveyor cadre. In this role he reviewed program practices, provided technical assistance and accreditation recommendations for organizations that represented best practices in the delivery of programs and services to people with disabilities.
Orr has a Masters Degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Healthcare from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
