The DC Office of Human Rights Launches Education Campaign for DCFMLA

The Office of Human Rights will be conducting training classes for District government employees and private sector employees/employers on their rights and responsibilities under the District of Columbia’s Family and Medical Leave Act (DCFMLA).  The Act entitles District government employees and eligible employees of private employers up to 16 work weeks of medical leave and 16 work weeks of family leave for a qualifying event.  The Act also provides employees some job protections when utilizing FMLA-designated leave. Although the revised regulations incorporate some of the language provided by the Department of Labor (DOL) in its FMLA regulations, it also provides additional guidance to District of Columbia government agencies. There will be numerous trainings throughout the upcoming fiscal year. If you are interested in attending a training, contact DCFMLA@dc.gov.
