Attend the Next Fair Housing Seminar on May 11, 2006; April 10 Session is Full

(Washington, DC) The Office of Human Rights hosts another Fair Housing Seminar on May 11, 2006. (The April 10 seminar is now full.)  Entitled "Reasonable Accommodation and Reasonable Modification," this one-day course will provide information to property managers on how to effectively understand and determine when to grant a reasonable accommodation or reasonable modification to a tenant.

Topics will include a common-sense approach to providing housing services to persons with disabilities and meeting their obligations to comply with the following legislation:

  • Architectural Barriers Act of 1968
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • Fair Housing Act's Provision Concerning Persons with Disabilities
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990

Another topic during the seminar is mental health and the law. This session will examine skill building techniques for rental housing owners and managers who have tenants with mental health disorders.
