DC DSLBD Receives 2007 Best Bar Project Award

(Washington, DC)  District of Columbia Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) Director Erik A. Moses will accept the DC Bar’s 2007 Best Bar Project Award in recognition of the Agency’s outstanding work and service as a participant in the Small Business Initiative.

The DC Bar Small Business Initiative, in partnership with DSLBD, the law firm of Winston & Strawn and the DC Small Business Development Center Network developed a six-part legal sufficiency course designed to enhance business skills and build capacity to compete in the local marketplace.  The course targeted small business owners specializing in the building and construction trade and awarded certificates upon completion.

The award will be accepted at tonight’s DC Bar Annual Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capital Hill, and recognizes Mr. Moses’ pledge to transform the Department into a high-performing, effective and results driven organization that provides superior service to District-based small businesses.

Service and outreach are critical toward Mayor Adrian Fenty’s goal of making the District of Columbia a World Class City,” said Mr. Moses, DSLBD’s newly confirmed director.  “Our role is to build the capacity to ensure that small businesses play a significant role in the continued economic growth and prosperity of our city.  We are grateful for the award and proud to be associated with a great community partner like the DC Bar.”
