Construction Industry CBE’s Now Able to Add Trade Divisions to Online Profile

(Washington, DC) — The Department of Small and Local Business Development’s virtual CBE Business Center now allows registered, certified business enterprises (CBE’s) to include Construction Industry Trade Divisions on their business’s online profile.

If your business is already registered as a CBE, you may log on to the CBE Online system on dslbd.dc.gov and upgrade your information to reflect which Trade Divisions your work entails. Because the private sector uses Trade Divisions to identify areas of specialty instead of using government NIGP codes, companies now will be able to find your company more easily if you update your certification profile to include trade divisions. With the Trade Divisions tool, your CBE profile will better reflect the practices of your industry.

Follow these steps to upgrade your trade division:

1. Go to dslbd.dc.gov.

2. Select on CBE Business Center.

3. Log in with your username and password.

4. Select Create New Application.

5. Select Application Type – Upgrade.

6. Confirm business address and contact information on Page 1 of application. When finished, select Save and Continue.

7. Confirm principal owner information on Page 2 of application, and then select Save and Continue.

8.  Select Edit Trade Divisions on Page 3 of application, and select the appropriate Trade Divisions.

9. Select Apply Changes.

10. Select Save and Continue.

*If you are not yet certified, you may identify your Trade Divisions on your CBE application via the CBE Business Center online.
