Micro Loan Fund Available For Small Business Assistance

The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) announces a pilot Micro Loan Fund program. The program is designated for Certified Business Enterprises (CBEs), with a preference for companies that are certified as resident-owned businesses and for businesses that serve or whose principal office is located in a DC Main Streets corridor, a Neighborhood Investment Program Target Area, or other area identified by the Mayor for economic development or commercial revitalization.

The Department will grant a limited number of loans of up to $15,000. Applications will be available in December.

Because businesses can only qualify for the funds if they are certified through DSLBD’s CBE program, the agency encourages retail establishments, restaurants, and other businesses that are not yet certified to begin the certification process as soon as possible. Business certification generally takes 45 business days, and you can learn more about it at dslbd.dc.gov.
