(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, approximately 150 attendees and exhibitors congregated at the Chapel at St. Elizabeth Hospital for the 2nd Annual Ward 8 Economic Development Summit. The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) co-sponsored the event with Councilmember Marion Barry.
DSLBD was also involved in planning the summit, and Nicole Becton, DSLBD’s Interim Director, served as a panelist in a workshop entitled What is the Law for CBE and 1st Source Requirements?
“I was happy to find workshop participants very engaged and interested in bolstering the city’s economic development. The Department of Small and Local Business Development, through participating in and providing assistance for events like this one, strives to support and promote local business,” Becton said.
Other workshop topics of the day included: Going Green—What Does it Mean?; Equity Investment and its Significance in the Community; and the Declining Economy and its Impact on Main Street—Changing the Tide.
