Register for Greening DC Restaurants Workshop on Earth Day

(Washington, DC) - The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) and GreenHOME are hosting a free Greening DC Restaurants Workshop on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, 2009 at 9:30 am to help DC restaurant business owners learn how to green their business operations.

During the 3-hour, in-depth workshop, business owners will learn:

  • Benefits of greening their restaurant operations
  • Specific and simple steps business owners can take
  • How to create an action plan with their business’ budget

Any DC restaurant can register to attend, however business owners in target neighborhoods will have priority seating. Other DC restaurants are welcome to attend as space is available.

To register for the free workshop, complete the brief online survey, which will help DSLBD and GreenHOME provide workshop content based on business owners interests and needs.

This workshop is part of the Greening DC Restaurants pilot project, through which DSLBD and GreenHOME offer free technical assistance (workshop, consultations, and guidebooks) to restaurants operating in the District, with a focus on target neighborhood commercial districts for which the project was funded. Through these technical assistance services, District restaurant owners will learn how to implement both short- and long-term changes that can significantly impact their bottom line, reduce a business’ ecological footprint, and improve the dining and working environment for customers and workers.

To learn more about other projects activities, visit the project overview.

To receive a copy of the publications (how-to guide and suppliers list), complete the online survey or email camille.nixon@dc.gov.

For more information on the Greening DC Restaurants project, contact:  Camille I. Nixon, Project Manager, DSLBD,(202) 727-3900 or camille.nixon@dc.gov.
