Green Building Act Class Coming Up at the eBIC

(Washington, DC) - The Department of Small and Local Business Development will present a new, two-part class on the Green Building Act on June 16 and June 23. The free course will focus on green building laws and standards in the District.

Part I (June 16) will provide background on the Green Building Act of 2006 and demonstrate how it regulates construction projects. Other topics of discussion include: the green building standards of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Green Communities, and Energy Star and green collar jobs.

Part II (June 23) will review the impact of the Green Building Act on construction permits, compliance reviews, and performance bonds. It will also address the relationship between LEED and energy efficiency as well as green initiatives and opportunities created by recent Federal stimulus bills.

The course will be taught by green building consultant and founder of Relerience, Gina Dennis.

Both courses will take place from 6 pm to 8 pm in DSLBD’s Enhanced Business Information Center (eBIC), located in the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, 901 G Street, NW.

Please register for the course in advance by contacting Katina Bolden at katina.bolden@dc.gov or (202) 727-2241.
