(Washington, DC) Over the next three months, District agencies will join together to showcase their online licensing, tax, and business information services. The "DC Business Tools Road Show" will brief businesses and nonprofits on the Business Resource Center, Master Business License, and Electronic Tax Service Center.

The District's Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA), and Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) are cooperating to conduct the one-hour Road Show presentations in all eight District wards. Agency representatives will be available to answer questions following the presentations.

The District's Chief Technology Officer, Suzanne Peck, noted, "The DC Business Tools Road Show demonstrates how technology can be used to help promote economic development in our neighborhoods. These online services make it easy to do business in the District."

"The online business tools reduce and, in some cases, eliminate the need for business owners to travel downtown to complete documentation," said David A. Clark, Director of DCRA. "Saving business owners a trip enables them to focus on their business and customers."

Deputy Chief Financial Officer Herbert J. Huff added, "The Road Show is an excellent forum to exhibit the taxpayer-friendly services currently available to District businesses through OTR's Electronic Tax Service Center."

The first three Road Show events have been scheduled for June; additional events will be scheduled in July and August.
