(Washington, DC) - Robin-Eve Jasper, acting director of the Office of Property Management (OPM), today announced the appointment of Louis P. Cannon as the new chief of the Protective Services Division (PSD), the element in OPM responsible for the security in properties owned and leased by the District Government.
Mr. Cannon brings 30-plus years of progressively more responsible law enforcement and security experience to this position. For the past three years he was chief of police of the Office of Naval Intelligence, in charge of day-to-day police and security functions, emergency preparedness and anti-terrorism operations. Before that, he served more than 20 years as an MPD officer. Mr. Cannon has also held security positions in both the private and public sectors, including with the Library of Congress Police and the United States Mint. He has made over 1,000 arrests in his career, for offenses ranging from misdemeanor to homicide. He recently completed his seventh consecutive term as head of the Fraternal Order of Police in the District.
“The District and OPM are most fortunate to have someone with Lou’s deep and varied law enforcement and security experience to head PSD,” said Director Jasper.
Mr. Cannon will officially assume his new duties on August 4.
