Frederick Douglass Quarter
Beginning in 2010, the United States Mint will issue 56 quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites as part of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program. The District’s quarter-dollar coin will feature the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, which has been managed by the National Park Service as an historic site since September, 1962. Once released, the Frederick Douglass quarter will join the Duke Ellington quarter, now in circulation, as a symbol of the rich heritage of the District of Columbia.
