The Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances (ODAI) has unveiled the new online home of the DCMR - all the rules and regulations of the District of Columbia. ODAI spent FY2009 recodifying, digitizing, and incorporating all rules promulgated for each title since that title’s most recent publication date. Half of the 31 titles had not been updated within the last 10 years, but all are now current.
In addition, ODAI has created and is now using, a web-based electronic drafting system which will obviate the need to ever again go through such an arduous updating project. New rules are promulgated every week in the DC Register, and the DCMR will now keep up with those changes. “Our electronic drafting tool allows us to automatically insert final rulemakings into the DCMR, so the DCMR stays current with the weekly online publication of the DC Register,” said Andrea Garvey, Administrator of the Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances.
“I am pleased that we have implemented Mayor Fenty’s mandate to provide open access to the District’s rules and regulations,” said Stephanie Scott, Secretary of the District of Columbia. “I also want to thank the public in advance for your patience as we continue to roll out the new searchable versions of our other publications, including the DC Register and Mayor’s Orders,” Scott added.
