On January 15, 2004, Mayor Anthony A. Williams and the DC Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission will host a celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the District's 19th annual citywide observance of the King Holiday. The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr., pastor of the Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Mayor Williams will present two Living the Dream Awards, and entertainment will be provided by the Metropolitan Music Ministry, Blues Alley Youth Orchestra, and Minister Paul Heflin. Mayor Williams and the Commission are proud to present this year's celebration, which kicks off a weekend of celebrations. Among those celebrations is a day-long opportunity to engage in service projects on January 19.
