District Taxpayers Affected by Storm Get Automatic 48-Hour Extension to File Income Tax Return

(Washington, DC) The Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) announced today that residents will be granted an automatic two-day extension to file their individual income tax return due to the storm and power outages that recently hit the area. Affected taxpayers will have until midnight on Thursday, April 19 to fulfill their tax obligations without incurring penalties or late fees.

Free tax preparation will also be extended until April 19. Customer service specialists will be available on April 18 and April 19, from 8:15 am to 6 pm, at the walk-in center on the first floor of 941 North Capitol Street, NE, to assist taxpayers in preparing their tax return.

For additional information, contact OTR’s customer service center at (202) 727-4TAX (4829).
