(Washington, DC) - Bedell Terry has been named director of the Office of Tax and Revenue's (OTR) Compliance Administration. Since November 2007, Bedell has been acting in this position.
Terry began his service with OTR in January 2005, as chief of the Collections division. Prior to that he had 30 years of service with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), in which he served as chief of collection for the Fresno, CA Service Center and assistant chief of collection for the district covering Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.
He also served as chief of collections for International Operations. As a senior analyst in the Headquarters Office he was responsible for the national Offer-in-Compromise program and the complete revamping of the IRS Collection Function Quality Review. He ended his IRS career as the office director for the Collection Function Automated Collection System. As office director, he handled the day-to-day operations of the IRS Automated Collection System, which employs approximately 5000 employees.
Bedell attended St. John’s University in Jamaica, Queens, and was awarded the first Dr. Martin Luther King Scholarship. He was also selected as a member of the St. John’s University President’s Society.
