Office of Tax and Revenue to Mail 1099G Forms to Taxpayers

(Washington, DC) - Stephen M. Cordi, deputy chief financial officer for the District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR), announced today that his agency will mail more than 102,000 copies of Form 1099G, beginning Friday, January 23, 2009 to District taxpayers who itemized on their federal income tax return last year and received a refund from the District.

Form 1099G informs taxpayers that the refund they received must be reported on their 2008 federal tax return. It reflects all District of Columbia income tax refunds credited to the taxpayer during 2008, including refunds received from amended returns of previous years.

For more information about Form 1099G, call OTR’s Telephone Center at (202) 727-4TAX (4829), or visit the Walk-In Center at 941 North Capitol Street, NE, first floor, Washington, DC, between  8:15 am and 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
