(Washington, DC) -- Stephen Cordi, deputy chief financial officer for the Office of Tax and Revenue, today announced Joseph Parran as the new director for the Returns Processing Administration, effective June 8.
Parran has served in senior positions with the Maryland State Comptrollers Office for more than 27 years. Most recently, he was the assistant director for processing in the Revenue Administration Division. In this role, he oversaw electronic filing, processing of tax returns and electronic fund transfers, and imaging of all tax returns. He also had a lead role in the in the design, procurement and distribution of tax booklets and forms.
“Mr. Parran has had a distinguished career in tax administration,” said Cordi. “While at the Comptrollers Office, he oversaw the processing of 2.8 million individual resident tax returns, approximately 150,000 non-resident tax returns and 60,000 corporate tax returns.”
Parran holds a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from Morgan State University. He has served as an instructor at Charles County Community College, Calvert County Campus, in which he taught courses in business management and accounting.
