Robert Farr Appointed Director of the Real Property Tax Administration

(Washington, D.C.) Stephen Cordi, deputy chief financial officer for the Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR), today announced the appointment of Robert Farr, director of OTR’s Real Property Tax Administration (RPTA).  Farr will officially report for duty on October 18. He replaces Richie McKeithen who has been appointed chief assessor for the City of Philadelphia.

Mr. Farr has been the supervisor of assessments for Charles County, Md for the past 12 years. In this position, he managed the assessment and maintenance of records for 58,000 real properties with a taxable base of $17 billion, including the tri-annual reassessment of Charles County and the quarterly initial assessment of newly constructed properties. Mr. Farr also monitored the scheduling of appeals that resulted from the issuance of assessment notices, including approving adjustments that are deemed appropriate.  Prior to becoming the supervisor of assessments for Charles County, Mr. Farr assessed commercial properties for Baltimore City for 18 years, following four years as a residential assessor.

He earned a bachelors of science from the University of Maryland, College Park.

RPTA is responsible for property assessments, ownership and address changes, tax billings, tax relief program administration, and land recordation for real property in the District of Columbia.
