You May Qualify for $300: Join the DC Office of Veterans Affairs and IRS April 5

To find out if you qualify and file for the economic stimulus payment, the DC Office of Veterans Affairs in conjunction with the IRS, invite you to attend “Economic Stimulus Day With OVA” on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Frank Reeves Center, 2000 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC, from 10 am to 3 pm.   • You must file a 2007 return to receive the Economic Stimulus Payment.
  • You must have VALID ID.
  • You must have earned at least $3000 in income via (earned income, certain veteran’s benefits, social security payments, non-taxable combat pay).
  • You will receive $300 if single and $600 if married.
  • You will receive an additional $300 for each qualifying child.
  • You are not eligible for an economic stimulus payment if you do not have a valid social security number.
  • You are not eligible for an economic stimulus payment if you can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.
  • You are not eligible for an economic stimulus payment if you receive Supplemental security income (SSI) payments are not considered Social Security benefits and thus cannot be included.
  • A child must have a valid social security number to be a qualifying child.

If you do not know the exact amount of these benefits, you may estimate the amount received by multiplying your monthly benefit by the number of months during 2007 you received the benefit. If the total is less than $3,000, add any deductions for withheld taxes or Medicare premiums to the benefits received.
