Mayor Adrian Fenty proclaimed* the month of May as "Military Appreciation Month" in the District of Columbia. The Mayor is encouraging all citizens of the city to join in recognizing the contributions and sacrifices made by District military veterans, District government military veteran employees and their families.

There are many activities scheduled for the month of May in honor of Military Appreciation Month. Listed below are just a few of the events scheduled:

2009 Joint Service Open House Air Show
May 15th: Open only to Department of Defense card holders, retirees, and school-sponsored children.
May 16th - 17th: Open to the general public. Admission is free.
