Back to School: DC Commission for Women Hosts a Bash for Families in Southeast

On August 24, 2007, helping to give every child the necessary tools for success, the DC Commission for Women will host a Back to School Bash for families in southeast Washington, DC area. During the event free book bags and supplies will be available for 500 children who are residents of DC Village, Woodland Terrace and Skyland. Bags and supplies will be given on a first come first serve basis.

At the event parents will also have the opportunity to sharpen their financial literacy skills at a 20-minute workshop. The locations of the event will be at DC Village Family Shelter from 10 am - 11am, Woodland Terrace from 1 pm - 2 pm, and Skyland Shopping Center from 12 pm - 4 pm. The sponsors for this event are Councilmember Marion Barry, Covenant House Washington, DC Commission for Women, Operation Hope, and the Ward 8 Education Council.
