OWPI Kicks Off WWE Economic Empowerment Series

Next to taking time for the health, women should take care of their wealth. With many women leading households and providing for their families, a healthy economic outlook in today's current climate is critically important. Understanding the severity of this matter, the Office on Women's Policy and Initiative (OWPI) will kick off its Women Economic Empowerment Series this October 30, 2007 from 7-9 pm at the John A. Wilson Building in Room 527 at 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Each series will feature a woman in finance who shares advice on how to become fiscally healthy. The series  represent an opportunity for women to ask questions, get information and improve their current circumstances.

The kickoff speaker will be Melody Rogers, who is a certified financial planner and a financial literacy coach with the Financial Literacy Foundation. She is a graduate of the UNC-Chapel Hill in North Carolina and is a member of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Created by OWPI, this event is part of its Washington Women Empowerment series and is free and open to the public. The next series will be November 6 and November 20. Residents who are interested can register at http://www.wwe.eventbrite.com.

The event is in joint partnership with the Business and Professional Women's/District of Columbia Federation, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority/Xi Omega Chapter, Edward Jones, DC Commission for Women and its Young Women's Task Force.
