Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

(Washington, DC) March 10 of each year has been designated by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health as Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The DC Department of Health reported that women make up one-third of all newly reported HIV cases from 2001-2006. Mayor Fenty proclaims this day to be Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day in the District of Columbia*,  and calls upon all the residents of this great city to take part in activities and observances designed to increase awareness and understanding of HIV/AIDS in observance of "Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day".
