Each of the following ongoing initiatives addresses an aspect of central Washington that is critical to its dual role as both a great world capitol and a city of residents with cultural and economic aspirations:
- The Center City Action Agenda 2008
- The National Capital Framework Plan
- The National Mall Plan
- Capitol Complex Master Plan
In order to ensure that the nation’s capital serves its residents and the nation, the Office of Planning, the National Capitol Planning Commission, the National Parks Service, the US Commission of Fine Arts, and the Architect of the Capitol coordinated their simultaneous public processes and identified the following complimentary priorities to advance as a great capital city: places, corridors, and transportation.
The leaflet, Planning Together for Central Washington*, was collectively developed to explain the purpose of each project, describe the relationship between these complimentary initiatives, articulate a shared vision, and build partnerships for the realization of priority recommendations.
