OP Announces Open House Style Workshop for the Bellevue Community

(Washington, DC) - Join the Office of Planning on Saturday, March 14, to develop ideas for the Bellevue neighborhood through a community-design workshop at the P.R. Harris Education Center.  The purpose of the open house style workshop is to receive further feedback relative to issues surrounding housing, retail creation, and public safety concerns in the Bellevue neighborhood. The Bellevue study area is defined as the area bounded by Southern Avenue, SW, on the south, First Street, SE, on the east, Halley Street, SE, on the north, and Martin Luther King Jr, Avenue, SW on the west.

Participants are encouraged to drop in anytime during the workshop.

The following topics will be discussed to enhance the Goals of the plan:

  • Existing conditions analysis
  • Market analysis
  • Land use and zoning recommendations
  • Neighborhood Investment Fund Plan
  • Redevelopment framework
  • Implementation plan

The outcomes of this process will provide direct instruction for implementation of multiple planning and policy initiatives designed to meet the objectives of the District’s Comprehensive Plan and Comprehensive Housing Strategy Task Force Report, the Great Streets Initiative and the legislative directives of the Neighborhood Investment Fund Act for the Bellevue community.
