Contact:  Beverley Wheeler, (202) 741-0884

Washington, DC – The DC State Board of Education (DCSBOE) will hold a public meeting to vote on truancy regulations.

The public meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at 441 4th Street, NW, in the District of Columbia State Board of Education Chambers, located on the lobby level of the building.

The State Board will vote on the truancy regulations as proposed in the District of Columbia Register on November 14, 2008 by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (55 DC Register 11917). The proposed truancy regulation amends the state standard and protocol through which local education agencies address student absence. The state board held public hearings on the proposed rules on October 1, 2008 and December 9, 2008. All public comments received were considered.

The meeting will air live on DSTV Comcast Channel 99 and RCN Channel 18.
