Up to $10,000 in College Financial Aid Is Available for Eligible DC Residents; Deadline Is June 30

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) wants qualified DC students to apply for the opportunity to get up to $10,000 per year to attend eligible universities and colleges. The deadline is June 30, 2008.

The college financial aid application process is done through the DC OneApp.  The DC OneApp is the only application that a college-bound District resident will need to apply for funding from the District’s four college financial aid grants: DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG), DC Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (DCLEAP), DC Adoption Scholarship (DCAS), and DC Adult Scholarship Program (DCASP).  The OSSE is extending its office hours and hosting free intake sessions where students and their parents can submit their applications with all supporting documents before the June 30, 2008, deadline. The following free sessions are scheduled:

Expanded DC OneApp Hours of Operation:
Monday, June 2, through Monday, June 23, 2008
8:30 am–6:30 pm
Location: 51 N Street, NE, 7th Floor, Washington, DC 20002
Nearest Metro: Red Line to New York Avenue/Florida Avenue/Gallaudet University

DC OneApp Intake Sessions:
Wednesday, June 25, through Friday, June 27, and Monday, June 30, 2008
9 am–7 pm
Location: 441 4th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001
Lobby Level-Old Council Chambers
Nearest Metro: Red Line to Judiciary Square

Counselors will be available at both sites to assist applicants with the online completion of their DC OneApp and FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Individuals who need assistance to complete their DC OneApp or FAFSA applications are strongly encouraged to attend the intake sessions starting on June 24, 2008.

For More Information:  Students and parents are encouraged to call the OSSE at (202) 727-2824 or visit osse.dc.gov to learn what documents and information will be necessary to successfully complete the application.
