The decision to grant accreditation and program approval to the aforementioned organizations is the result of a review of each organization’s proposed curricular offerings against a rigorous set of standards for educator preparation, which was approved by the DC State Board of Education in December of 2008. These organizations join seven institutions of higher education - American University, Catholic University of America, Gallaudet University, The George Washington University, Howard University, Trinity University, and the University of the District of Columbia, already accredited by the State to prepare educators for DC licensure.
